“Once upon a time…” – who doesn’t resonate with this beginning? It is enough to hear it and already our mind opens, curious, attentive, ready to be conquered. In a hectic world, where we struggle for every second of attention, storytelling is not just an art, but a vital tool. A skill that deserves to be learned, practiced and taken to the rank of superpower.
Why storytelling?
Because the stories have always been there. Before PowerPoint, before social media, before any technology, people learned, inspired, and connected through stories. In them we put our emotions, vulnerability, humor, teachings. Stories are how we stay memorable.
Moreover, if you don’t have a story, you don’t have the levers to get noticed. You don’t differentiate yourself, you don’t create an authentic connection. And in the current context, in which digitization and AI make our work more efficient, soft skills are and will remain the real bargaining chip in career and interpersonal relationships.
A skill for all ages
I have been teaching storytelling for years and I do it with as much passion in front of students in their final years, as in trainings for managers, entrepreneurs or corporate teams. Why? Because it’s a universal skill. Everyone has a story. And anyone can learn to say it well.
Especially when it comes from authenticity, storytelling becomes our professional and personal DNA. No two stories are the same – and that’s exactly the magic. Stories show us who we really are. And in the professional world, they can open doors for us, strengthen our reputation, sell our ideas and create loyalty.
Why did I include it in the Flexible HR training grid?
Because it’s part of me. Anyone who knows me knows that I grew up with stories, that I speak in metaphors, parables, sayings. It’s my natural and authentic style. And I think this is true for everyone: with a little guidance, everyone can find their voice and their personal style of storytelling.
I decided to add this course to our grid because it is the closest to my soul. It is that module that, regardless of the general theme of the training, ignites something in the eyes of the participants. A spark of “Ah, yes, that’s right!”. And when you see that, you know you’ve achieved your goal.
Instead of conclusion…
Invest in yourself and add this precious skill to your quiver. Whether you want to sell an idea, support a pitch, motivate your team or simply be more connected to who you are, storytelling is a powerful ally.
Let’s (re)make friends with the stories. Because we all have one to say. And it’s important that it be well said!
